This is from XP.

Code:
Ping statistics for 174.121.78.24:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 235 ms, Maximum = 537 ms, Average = 451 ms

I can see difference between Vista and XP.

This is mine
I don't know why, but when I do the test @ pingtest.net or w/e I get like 80% Packet Loss... And I don't have a bad internet... Roughly downloading with 3MB/s from MegaUpload or RapidShare, and on PS3 I never get under 1MB/s.

That was from Turkey, not Europe but not Japan or China.

Overall, I'd say the ping for my server is looking good!

Even to EUROPE, wow..

If you have a decent connection in Europe, your ping should be around 140.

140 is pretty smooth, 300 is TERRIBLE.

As long as we have a server it does not matter to me unless it really influences our userbase and makes Europeans quit which won't happen anyways.

And I've something to add to this topic anyways. As I said before, the passwords are SHA1 encrypted. Now I have made a SHA1-compatible version of password recovery functions for the panel. This means that no longer can our users be mailed their passwords or other sensitive data (bad idea anyways) but when requesting password the script will first generate a secure hash and e-mail a link with it to a player. The player opens it and can insert their new password. Just how it works on bigger systems which also use hashed passwords like SMF.

Also simplified the MySQL linker in the userbar script. This means - no need for 2 config files for MySQL data.

I suppose the project can be renamed to SFSFv3 in my local development then? Also I need a list of things to do since I don't currently have much to do. This I did cause I felt really like coding PHP before going on vacation.

So guys, you mind throwing up the latest SFSFv2 on the server so us members have something to do? And with that we can find out how everyone's ping actually will be and if it's bearable or not for them

Something to do I guess: A forum/website thing? =D

Well before the server launch we will need to make our SFSFv3 more renewed. I don't know what to renew though. And SA-MP doesn't really offer much expansion room for the server currently. Meh, need ideas. And a forum would be awesome to come soon when I get back from holidays in like 12 days.

I just want the current SFSFv2 to be up for now (Until SFSFv3 is all updated and ready and whatnot) so we all have somewhere to play :)

I thought you didn't like SA-MP anymore. Cause back then you started playing COD4 =_=

The server was dying and becoming very boring back then.. Now I haven't played SA-MP in a while and I wanna get back into it because I remember all the good times we had in there :)

I would love to have a HUGE dm area somewhere, perhaps worldboundries giant square in las venturas or so, that would be the DM Mode, in there you can place bounties on persons etc...

EDIT: Someone remembers the awesome DM map I made for Las Venturas Madness? We could have that on SFSFv3 instead of the lame stunt park that was between the casinos.

That is a VERY good idea...
I loved that map...

I opened up my old img.sf-sf.net folder and damn there are some real good pictures. I really miss those old times.

We had 100 players daily and I was working dead hard on the community and the script... and it was dying and becoming very boring at the same time? Meh.

Anyways as I recall one feature that players have been eager to request is DUELS as minigames. That feature will definitely have its space in SFSFv3. And I'm still awaiting suggestions and can have some version of the script online soon for our collaborators (mappers - Mave) to help redesign the SFSF world.

I have a test-server (40 slots) on ServerFFS which has 2 weeks left on it.

Hit me up on Xfire for the details to login (frostbytezcom)
