Depends. Fallout 1 & 2 are completely different than 3 and NV...
In short, 3 and NV are like skyrim, but with guns (open world, main mission but lots of side missions and multiple outcomes)
I've never really played 1 or 2, but it's more topdown view, instead of FPS
