Short : A must-have game, PERFECT for when you have NOTHING to do (in school, bus, ...)

Doodle Jump is a game for the iPhone / iPod Touch developed by Lima Sky. Nicknamed, "The iPhone/iPod Touch Version Of Crack", it was the most-downloaded paid app in 5 countries during various months of 2009: in April, it topped the US; in May, France; in June and July, Austria; and Germany and Spain in August.

I have this game for like almost a year now?
And I've played it A LOT...

This is the most addictive game ever for your iPod Touch / iPhone - I GUARANTEE you that...

Gameplay

In Doodle Jump, the goal is to make it as high as one can without dying. Players control Doodler, a four-legged creature who constantly bounces off an unending series of platforms. Players tilt the device from side to side to move Doodler in the desired direction. Players can grab a propeller or a Rocket or bounce on a spring or trampoline to go faster for a brief time. There are also enemies Doodler has to shoot or jump on top of to eliminate.

Obstacles and power-ups

Obstacles

There are a several obstacles Doodler must evade in the game:

  • Monsters – There are five different types of monsters which the player must shoot at, jump on top of,
or avoid in order to not be knocked down and sent to the "Game Over" screen.
  • Boss Monster - This monster is much more difficult to shoot than the other monsters because it moves around the screen,
and has to be shot 5 times to be killed. It will still die with a single jump.
  • UFOs – UFOs abduct Doodler when it jumps underneath them, ending the game.
The shield accessory does not protect Doodler against a UFO. You can shoot a UFO.
  • Black holes – Black holes are similar to UFOs and monsters, but cannot be destroyed.
If Doodler touches one, it is sucked inside and the game ends.

Power ups

  • Jetpack - Makes you fly up.
  • Propeller hat - Same as a Jetpack, but not as high.
  • Trampoline - Makes you go a short distance up and the Doodler does a backflip
  • Spring - Makes you go a short distance up like the trampoline but not as high.
  • Force Shield - Makes you invulnerable from Monsters for a short time.
  • Spring Shoes - Like springs, but they stay on Doodler's feet for a total of six bounces.

Platforms

Brown - Breaks when jumped on.
Gray - Move vertically.
Red & Yellow - Exploding. They flash from yellow to red, then explode.
Blue - Move horizontally.
Green - Stays still. They are the most common platform in the game
Dark Blue with arrows around it - Can be moved around by player. Turns into a green platform when jumped on.
White - Disappears after being jumped on.

Scores

During gameplay, the score – indicated at the top left of the screen – increases as Doodler progresses further. There are local, "friends", and global leaderboards built into the game. Players can import friends' scores, publish scores online on Facebook and Twitter, and challenge friends by e-mail.
