Call of Duty: Black Ops will be getting dedicated servers, according to studio head Mark Lamia.

When asked whether the popular feature would be present in Black Ops in the new issue of PC Zone, Lamia replied, "I think dedicated servers are excellent. I don't see any reason not to see them unless... well, I just don't see any reason not to."

"It seems people like them and we're excited about what we're doing right now."

Lamia showed his appreciation of how much dedicated servers meant to a lot of PC gamers:

"We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides."

"We're working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they're all on first-party servers."

Welp, COD4 did it right and everyone was happy, so unlike IW they kept what worked and stuck to it.

Tbh the matchmaking system wroks but it should stick to the consoles sinse from my experience a server browser would flaw on a console.
On pc a server browser is nice as well as the fact you will have chance to mqybe join a server with nice mods and actually being aware of that

No. Matchmaking DOES NOT work. Everytime I join a game, the game is in progress, and we're losing by like 3000 points. It is impossible to catch up by then. Sometimes it takes SO long to get in a game. There have been so many times that I have joined SnD, or TDM, and as soon as I join, what I see is the game winning kill cam.

And dedicated servers are good on consoles too. Because then that would prevent hacked lobbies and other BS lobbies.

I heard that when they were talking about nazi zombies they quickly changed the subject. I WANT EET BACK D:<

Lolk some more things.

OXM’s Call of Duty: Black Ops cover feature has been stripped of information. Head inside, soldier.

The magazine says, “You’re not just relegated to mini-gun man who holds down the trigger and nudges the aiming reticle around the screen. For once, you’re flying the helicopter. And firing the missiles. And the mini-guns.”

Other stuff:

- You will be fighting the North Vietnamese Army in certain missions.

- You’re an off-the-grid, best-of-the-best badass with a more important secret agenda.

- Vehicles will return, but “not in the way you remember them from WaW”.

- There will be “dedicated co-op” with separate levels. Treyarch changed the subject when the mag asked about World at War’s hugely popular Nazi Zombies.

- A multiplayer beta’s being “considered.”

- Treyarch will be improving mulitplayer by taking on feedback – even going so far as to openly acknowledge the under-the-map glitches that initially plagued World at War.

- Changes are being made to the matchmaking to “make it easier for [players] to get into games with their friends.”

- Multiplayer was up and running so early that some campaign levels were actually built from multiplayer maps.

- Create-a-Class 2.0 will allow you to customise yourself like never before. This should include kit and appearance items as well as perks.

OXM seems very excited about the game, saying, “The evolution Treyarch has undergone between World at War and Black Ops feels very familiar. In fact, we don’t have to look far to figure it out. We saw this exact kind of “oh-ha!” corner-turning in game design and execution from this very franchise back when Infinity Ward leapt from A-list to the AAA-list between CoD2 and the first Modern Warfare.”

The developer also seems excited about the game, with Treyarch boss Mark Lamia saying, “We’ve taken some creative risks… We want to do something different than we’ve done before. It’s time… We want the game to speak for itself.”
