I'm always reminded of a passage by one of my favorite comedians whenever I hear someone bitch about taxes.
You know why people are so mad about taxes and what governments spend it on?
It's because you don't see where it's going. For other bills, it's obvious. You pay your electricity bill, and power comes out the wall. You pay your waterbill, and the shower works.
But for taxes... You pay them, and POOF! The money's gone. You get nothing back in return.
Sure, you can see the road works and stuff, but that's not the same. You pay for something that's not yours. And that's why people get mad at taxes.
