(PhysOrg.com) -- Google Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread, will appear around mid-October with the first headsets shipping in November/December time frame, according to Mobile-review.com's Eldar Murtazin. This information was obtained from Russian blogger Stasys Bielinis in a June 30th podcast that was conducted in Russia.

Bielinis told Eldar Murtazin that Android 3.0 will feature a new UI with a lot of animation. The recommended minimum requirements for Android 3.0 will call for a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, 3.5" displays and larger. A new resolution of 1280x760 will be available for devices with a display of 4" and higher which will pave the way for Android tablets.

The user interface is completely revamped and could eliminate the need for third party interface shells such as HTC Sense, MotoBlur, etc. Google taking over the UI interface will most likely apply only to the high end devices but let vendors keep their UI for Android 2.1 and 2.2.

According to reports its very likely that Android 3.0 will be the platform for the Android tablet that Verizon and Google are teaming up to build. Back on May 11 Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam leaked some news about the company’s tablet plans with Google.

A spokesperson for Google also stated: “The Android smartphone platform was designed from the beginning to scale downward to feature phones and upward to MID and netbook-style devices. We look forward to seeing what contributions are made and how an open platform spurs innovation, but we have nothing to announce at this time."

According to Israel sources, Google is also planning to launch its Google Music service that is scheduled to be released around the holiday season with Android 3.0 headsets. Earlier this year Google had launched its Cloud Music service at Google I/O, which appears to be a success.

Google’s Cloud service enables presenters to click on a button on a web page and allows the music to appear on their phone. Google’s Music service and Android 3.0 may heat up the completion with its rival Apple and their iTunes service.

It’s also expected that Google TV, which runs on an Android OS will also use Android 3.0 which will improve Google TV to stream music.

Google already brings in huge revenue through their YouTube service and using Google search as the major traffic driver to Google Music will definitely be another cash cow for Google.
